Welcome, Alaska colleagues!
Entrepreneur Healers
I'd like to create a weekly Zoom meeting for Alaska's mental health professionals interested in developing their work beyond the therapy chair; those who share my intention to create their work around their life (instead of the other way around!) while being passionate about helping, healing, and inspiring others to do the same.
Participants
Who is this for?
Alaska healers at any career stage (that includes you, students!) interested in developing your own paid work in the field, outside of the traditional 1-to-1 sessions. This group is for both established entrepreneurs, ready to branch off in new directions, and those who are really new to the idea of thinking of the business side of therapy (but interested to know what's possible.)
Scheduling
Why so often?
For the same reason I prefer to meet with clients once a week:Traction and movement on goals

Connection
Trust
Extracurricular Therapy
Topics
I'd love to discuss things like:Authoring a book or blog
Starting a YouTube channel
Honing your brand
Creating a newsletter
Developing a retreat, workshop, or online course
Launching a podcast

To Bring:
Your curiosity, questions, book recommendations, quotes to share, links to creators who are inspiring you, and most importantly your bravery and vulnerability so we can support each other.
Your Host
Whose idea was this?
Hello! I’m Karen Tessandore, LPC and entrepreneur healer. I want to be the voice of “Yes!” for others in the field.Day one of my master’s program at Alaska Pacific University I announced to my cohort I would be going into private practice. The day after graduating 5 years ago, I got the key to my new office and launched my business. While earning my LPC with hours solely in my private practice, I had a lot of feedback from people in the profession telling me that was not a viable path. Turns out they were mistaken…good thing I didn’t listen. Now I’m turning my time and attention to writing a book, while also building my brand as a therapist so that I can continue to attract clients that are the right fit for my skills and passions. As a solo practitioner, my motivation is to have "coworkers" to talk with about these things. Let's cultivate community around the idea of the business/helper intersection. As a bonus, let's change the outdated belief that wanting to make money (and daring to talk about it) is incongruent with being a helper.

Before proposing a meeting day and time, I wanted to check and see if this resonates with others.
Let me know if this is sparking something for you.
